The Immersion Research Royale is an expedition-grade rand spray skirt for whitewater kayaking, built for experienced paddlers who prioritize maximum cockpit security and implosion resistance in extreme conditions. It is Immersion Research's most durable and implosion-resistant spray skirt, making it a serious choice for big-water Class V, steep drops, and other demanding whitewater where skirt failure is not an option.
The Royale combines a rugged 4mm abrasion-resistant Supratex II deck and rear casing with a Schoeller Keprotec front casing reinforced with Kevlar aramid fibers. A 3mm neoprene tunnel provides a comfortable, secure connection around the paddler's waist, while the tri-fin rubber rand creates an exceptionally tenacious grip around the cockpit rim.
The rand is designed to provide greater resistance to cockpit implosion than a conventional bungee skirt. Silicone grip strips on the underside of the deck help hold the skirt in place during installation, while the neoprene apron extending beyond the rand helps improve the seal and protect against water entering the cockpit.
The Royale's high-visibility Eagle Talon grab handle stays open and provides a secure grip when you need to release the skirt in a disorienting situation.
The Immersion Research Royale is designed for expert paddlers who value maximum cockpit security over ease of installation. Rand skirts require more effort to install than bungee skirts, but their mechanical seal makes them particularly well suited to big-water Class V and extreme whitewater where implosion resistance is a priority.
