Guide to Hip Kick (4th Warm-Up)

This Class II rapid is named for the “hip-kick” maneuver that some choose to make in a raft at lower water levels. At high flows, this rapid is so far under the surface that it is completely washed out and nearly indiscernible. At lower flows, hip kick rock is a pyramid shaped boulder just left of center. This rock has severe pin potential for rafts and kayaks. It is easy to maneuver just to the right or the line to the far right of this rock.
